Interior Design: Contemporary interior design for a home in Auckland, Aotearoa.
Ballin Interiors is an example of the different spatial experiences that can be achieved on a compact urban site.
Upon entering the space, one immediately feels a sense of calm as a result of the design’s pared-back simplicity and neutral timber tones. It is a safe haven in the midst of the city - a space where you can escape the bustle of day to day life and enjoy moments of retreat with family.
The colour palette balances both light and dark. Black bench tops and cabinetry pairs beautifully with deep browns from the nearby timber battens.
This is an inner city escape that is hard to leave.

Vertical timber battens and timber shelf inserts help balance the deep and dark tones of the kitchen bench top and cabinetry.

The elegant gas fireplace and oak cabinetry seamlessly blends into the a sun soaked ‘picture frame’ window providing views out to the neighbouring park.

We inserted moments of retreat where ever we could. Daybeds along the hall way to the kitchen provide versatile spaces for relaxing when you need a moment to yourself.

“Highly intricate detailing and considerations that offers more than initially meets the eye.”

It has been a great honour to work with Jeremy on the interior design at Ballin Street, Auckland. The outcome is fabulous. I have been a residential builder for 20 years in NZ. He is the best architect I have met with no doubt. His ideas, architecture space imagination, the scale, the detailing, the materials selections, colours matching etc, all make this house outstanding. Lots of visitors, builders, agents, architects etc who come to view the house are so impressed by his design. The design makes the home so prominent in a quiet Ellerslie suburb. I can imagine the home will impress more people when it's on market one day. I am really keen to work with Jeremy in next project in the near future.

The stair, through the centre of the plan, is framed by a fine black steel lining that carves out a strong presence throughout the levels of the home.
